How e-Books Can Be Very Valuable

EBooks have a number of benefits over the traditional book. These include the following ? Cheaper to create ? Quicker to create ? Easier to target a wide market ? High profit potential ? More versatile than traditional books

EBooks have a number of benefits over the traditional book. These include the following:

? Cheaper to create

? Quicker to create

? Easier to target a wide market

? High profit potential

? More versatile than traditional books

Let’s look at each of these points in turn:

Cheaper to create:

The eBook can be created on a shoestring budget since it is possible for its publishing and marketing costs to be minimal. On the other hand the traditional book has a higher cost structure. This means the author will have to overcome a tough sales target before they even consider making a profit on the book.

The costs the author will incur if he follows a traditional book format include:

? Publishing costs

? The profit margin that the bookstores will want to sell the book

? Distribution costs

? Marketing costs including advertising costs

Quicker to create

The eBook could be written and published in as little as 7 days. For other potential authors who work at a slower pace, the whole process of writing and publishing a book could be done within a month.

On the other hand for a traditional book the time span between starting a book and writing it could take around 18 months. By that time the information contained in the book could be out of date especially if the book is technology or research related.

Easier to target a wide market

With eBooks the sky the limit! The eBook may be sold on the Internet to anyone who has a credit card and an Internet connection in any place in the world. Since an author can control the topics of their book, they can decide whom to market to.

However with a traditional book it may be difficult to expand to new markets since it will involve further significant costs on distribution and marketing.

High profit potential

EBooks can be produced on a shoestring budget but since customers may believe they offer value for money, the author may charge more for them than expected. It is not impossible for almost everything grossed from an eBook being profit.

On the other hand traditional books have high production and marketing costs and this means the author (unless they are very popular) will have great difficulty in recovering these costs and making a profit.

More versatile than traditional books

EBooks could be used for a number of purposes. The most common method is for the sale of the eBook. However an eBook could be used as a free gift to customers to entice them to buy a product from you. It can also be transformed into audiocassettes or digital products.

To conclude eBooks are a very valuable tool that could be used as a profit centre, as a publishing tool or as a marketing tool. It has many advantages over the traditional book.

About the Advantages of Android Tablets and ...

There were a lot of skeptics about the future of tablet computers before they were introduced. Today however, there is no longer any doubt as to the usefulness and the popularity of those devices and how it has created a new niche in the market. People are still using desktops and laptops, but there are some functions where tablets can beat those two hands down.

Browsing is a lot more fun when you are using a tablet for it. Watching videos is also a lot better with a tablet. That’s why a lot of people prefer to have their tablets around.

The Android Advantage- Though Android tablets were not the first ones in the market, they are moving in to claim a significant share of it. What is the advantage of Android tablets over that of the iPad?

The main advantage of course is the fact is that there is not just a single model or manufacturer of Android tablets. There are so many device makers that are using this OS and so consumers are presented with so many choices.

Consumers can pick from tablets with small screens to ones that can double as laptops by being attached to a keyboard base. The options are expanding with each month. Compare that with the main competition which can only offer upgrades of the same device.

Android Tablet and Security- One of the major concerns when it comes to using the Internet is security. It does not matter what sort of device is used but the important thing is that security should be prioritized at all times. This is true when it comes to Android tablets as well.

The first thing to understand about Android tablets and security is the thing called permissions. When you download an app you are initially given permissions that basically says that you allow the app to make changes on your device. Keep in mind that the only way that permission can be revoked is to remove the app by uninstalling it.

Antivirus Apps- There are antivirus apps now for Android devices that can be downloaded and installed on your devices. The problem is that their effectiveness is still an open question. Can they really work in helping to prevent malicious software from getting into your device?

The consensus is that these apps do work for keeping your device safe. So it is a good idea to have them downloaded and installed on your tablet to help in keeping it protected from viruses.

Treating it Like a Laptop- The best practice is to treat your tablet like a laptop. Take the same precautions that you use when using your laptop computer when using a tablet.

A tablet usually connects to the Internet through a Wi-Fi connection and so there are certain risks that you must be aware of when using that way of connecting to the Internet.

These are just some of the things that you can keep in mind when it comes to keeping your Android tablet safe and secure.

Where Can I Buy the BlackBerryTablet?

We’ve got the latest release date & price details for shoppers in North America and the UK. If you reckon this Wi-Fi only tablet is the device for you, read this article to find out where you can get the best price!

A Competitor to iPad 2 and Android Honeycomb

Although much of the tablet-buying public is getting excited about iPad 2 and Android Honeycomb tablets, there is a third party to consider, an enemy at the gate entering the tablet market for the first time but with an impressive pedigree in producing attractive mobile devices.

The Playbook is due for release around the world during 2011, bringing a whole new element to the tablet battle. Offering high-end hardware, impressive build quality and compatibility with various Android apps, the Playbook has the potential to deal a bit of damage to Apple and Google, thanks to RIM’s existing user base, many of whom are corporate customers.

US Release Information

In the USA and Canada, the Playbook has been available for some weeks, with all models released there on April 19th, 2011. There are three models of Playbook, all 3G and Wi-Fi capable, and it seems that at least one of these has experienced some problems.

RIM released the Playbook in 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB models, but announced in May that around 1000 16 GB devices will be recalled due software issues.

The Blackberry tablet can be purchased in the USA at various price points commensurate with the device spec. The 16 GB tablet is $499, the 32 GB is $599 and the 64 GB device is $699 when purchased direct from RIM, and at present the device is not available via any carriers, although Sprint and Verizon have both announced that they will be selling at least one model.

UK Release Information

Things are slightly different in the UK, where the BlackBerry Playbook release date is June 16th, 2011, and the price again depends on the model.

Two key electronic retailers (carphonewarehouse.com and bestbuy.co.uk) are offering the Wi-Fi only tablet for pre-order, with a starting price of £399 for the 16 GB model, £479 for the 32 GB tablet and £559 for the 64 GB device.

For a Wi-Fi only device (RIM expects existing BlackBerry phone owners to be the prime buyers of this device, hence the lack of 3G) this price range seems expensive, although the devices features a high definition display, HDMI out and front and back facing cameras.

Can I Buy the BlackBerry Tablet Overseas?

RIM is intending the Playbook to be a competitor in the tablet market, and as such is making it available all over the world. In addition to the USA, Canada and the UK, the Playbook will be available in Europe, the Middle East, India, Japan and Australia.

However as yet prices and retailers are still to be announced, as are the models that will be available in these territories, so until such information is available your best course of action is to visit the BlackBerry Playbook website and sign up for updates for news relevant to your area.

Don’t be surprised to see the Playbook take a backseat to the iPad 2 and Honeycomb tablets, however, as these are considered the more popular items at present. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, remember to ask the sales assistant!

Apple iPad: The Most Astounding Tablet Computer ...

The Apple iPad is one of the most awaited gadgets of this century. Ever since the January announcement, thousands of people are eagerly awaiting its official release here in UK. Apple iPad release date has been fixed as May 28th, 2010 in many countries including UK. The pre-ordering has already begun and it is expected that the iPad would perform just as brilliantly as in the US.

Apple iPad being a new breed of device, can be seen as a tablet computer, but is more powerful and feature-rich than that. If the surveys are believed, in the US region the sales for the Apple iPad had reached one million within a month.

The Apple iPad comes with two variants – with Wi-Fi alone, and with Wi-Fi and 3G. The Apple iPad price is as yet unknown but reports suggest they may come at about £350 or so. There are plenty of Apple iPad features which are sure to take away the breath of the user. The multi-touch is one of the most wonderful facilities, to begin with. The display is LCD coupled with a XGA output. A scratch-resistant glossy cover protects the screen which has a resolution of 1024x768px (at 4:3 ratio). The Apple iPad is powered by a 1GHz A4 PoP SoC processor. It runs on a modified and advanced version of the operating system found on the iPhone – iPhone OS 3.2. A huge list of applications comes built in because of this feature. There are software applications like Safari, YouTube, iPod, iTunes, iBooks, App Store, Maps, Calendar, Notes, Contacts and the Spotlight Search.

The Apple iPad Tablet(fones) comes with a 16, 32 or 64 GB flash drive for storage. A micro-SIM slot is provided. The iPad can be connected to the computer and can sync with iTunes on Mac or PC. There is a built-in Bluetooth functionality, because of which one can use wireless headphones and keyboards with the iPad. A normal 3.5 mm audio jack provides stereo sound for headphones.

The battery is supposed to provide the best performance. It can provide 10 hours of video, 140 hours of audio or can remain on continuous standby for about a month. The battery however is irreplaceable but can be charged with regular USB cables connected to a computer. However, a special 10 W power adapter is provided for quicker recharging because the iPad uses high-current (of the order of 2 amperes) to recharge the battery. An interesting thing with the Apple iPad is that one can easily make calls through VoIP using a Bluetooth headset and the Wi-Fi/3G feature.

There is an accelerometer, ambient light sensor and magnetometer for the digital compass. According to certain Apple iPad review, these are slightly modified versions of the one found on the iPhone. The Wi-Fi variant weighs in at about 680 g while the 3G variant weights at 730 g. The 3G variant of the Apple iPad is sold unlocked and can thus be used with any compatible GSM carrier.

A comparatively large list of Apple iPad Accessories(fones) accompanies the Apple iPad:

iPad Keyboard Dock with hardware keyboard, 30-pin connector, and audio jack

iPad Case used to stand the iPad in various positions

iPad Dock with 30-pin connector and audio jack

iPad Dock Connector to VGA Adapter for external projection or monitor display

iPad Camera Connection Kit including a USB Type A connector adapter and an SD card reader (can be used to transfer photos and videos only)

iPad 10W USB Power Adapter with 2 A output (10 W)

Do you remember that Bob Costas gun controversy?

Gee, what a difference Newtown made. pre-Newtown, Bob Costas  issued a brief halftime commentary, following a murder/suicide of an NFL player, asking in essence- are we really sure that guns make us safer?

Costas was castigated at length by Wayne LaPierre, NRA head, and a host of gun nut talking heads- despite the fact that he did not explicitly call for ANY gun control measures.  Now, after the Newtown massacre, Costas is looking like a clairvoyant, but what is Wayne LaPierre saying in response to widespread calls for renewing the assault weapons ban that the Bush Congress foolishly dropped?

wayne, he say nothin.

Which is not to say that he is whipped. an assault weapons ban would make it through the Senate. But the tea party crazies among the House Republicans will probably find a way to kill it.

Why should you go for iPAD?

Why should I care about getting an iPAD tablet computer made by Apple? Because it’s the hottest thing to come out since sliced bread. It’s the future of computers, here. There are drawbacks to the device, but no matter its faults the iPAD makes us happy when we start to use it. This device is truly that big heavy computer in your hand, it eliminates the need of all those cables and spaces and sizes for the normal everyday man. The iPAD makes full use of all the pertinent technology available to it. For example, since it has no USB slots, it makes wonderful use of Bluetooth technology, however amazing Bluetooth is, its not a popular method of transferring information. It is better when used for its pairing features, and its ability to eliminate the need for any physical connection between device A and device B. This great feature allows anyone to pair anything and anytime with the iPAD, and the most commonly paired device with the iPAD is a Bluetooth keyboard.

Aside from this situation, we can also see how the iPAD uses a smart Wi-Fi connection setup. It uses an actively smart WI-FI connection, for example if it has been connected before it will remember the WiFi connection and remember to connect to it in the future. This ability to connect with those that it remembers is fantastic and is seen in every other device with Wi-Fi but what makes the iPAD WiFi so smart and fantastic, is its ability to properly connect itself to open networks that it encounters out and about in the town. The iPad’s main drawback is its lack of compatibility with flash based websites. With many websites going into a flashy direction with sleek interfaces and design, the future of websites are being held in place by an antiquated website format. For example, the main reason most websites are not in flash is because of its inability to properly climb in website rankings and increase i s value to Google search spiders.

Aside from this however, flash is an integral component of popular websites, and is also used by many advertisers in unique ways on websites to present their product with catchy styles. And it’s a downright shame that Apple cannot settle past differences and rivalries and fully embrace a competitor’s software. But since Apple is so big and popular it can now get away with it. If Apple were any other company that came out with a similar device it would undoubtedly fail, because the supporting framework just isn’t there. If Apple didn’t already have its hands in other ways in this PC business, than it would have been much more difficult to establish the iPad as the juggernaut that it is now. If Apple made just the device, there’s a very good chance that the OS was powered by Android. This would have been incredible to see, and I’m sure some tech out there has figured out a way to completely take out the Apple OS and replaced it with the latest iteration of the Android operating system.

The iPad’s successful debut on the shelves and homes of America is largely due in part to Apple’s ingenious marketing techniques. They employ images of everyday activities made to be just a little bit better with the utilization of Apple products. All the sudden asking your phone where the nearest restaurant or gas station is, not such a crazy idea after all.

What I would like to know now, is what is going to happen 10 years from now. What revolutionary hurdle will we jump through next as we advance into the next technological frontier? Revolutions happen every day, but on a very small level when talking about technology. And I for one cannot wait to see what happens next.

Deals on Kindle Fire HD 7.0 & Amazon Kindle ...

Turning a page on the iPad - the beginning to the end of the mouse as the primary ostension mechanism

via

Sarasota, FL (PRWEB) December 23, 2012

The Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7” 16GB, Wi-Fi tablet is much more affordable during the holiday season, particularly before Christmas.

Kindle Fire HD 7” is one of the most sought-after small tablets on a budget currently available. Mingya found the best deal available for the 16GB, Wi-Fi 7-inch tablet which currently sells for $199.00 on Amazon.

Amazon expanded the concept of the tablet PC in 2007 with the creation of the first edition of the black and white display Kindle. While this device served e-book reading purposes, it was not ready for video playback and Internet browsing according to the report. The new changes that have been made have helped to contribute to the success of this tablet series.

Apple’s iPad is one of the competitors to the Kindle edition of tablets. The price comparison for each of these tablets is very different. While Apple reports a larger market share, the retail price is approximately $100 higher for the iPad compared with the same 7-inch version of the Kindle Fire tablet.

Which is Better – iPhone or Android?

User-FriendlyOn an ease-of-use perspective, most critics believe that using applications on the iPhone is much easier than Android devices. Even if iPhone is your first smartphone, the experience will be cleaner and simpler. Android, as it is still coming up, just needs to fine-tune a bit.

ControlAndroid phones allow you to bring widgets to your home screen to have recent updates, without you having to launch a dedicated application. iPhone on the other hand rules with an iron fist. Apple provides tools and guidelines but enforces them rigidly and then the apps can get rejected as well. Android is an open source software for installing applications from even outside the market.

MultitaskingAndroid is better suited for multitasking as compared to iPhone. You can even install a new application with another one running in the background. iPhone on the other hand is a bit rigid as far as multitasking is concerned.

ApplicationsThe Apple apps store has about 200,000 applications as compared to Android’s 100,000. While apps can be free or paid for in Apple apps store, Android has the advantage that all the apps are free.

Choice of PhonesIf you want an iPhone operating system, you have a limited choice of phones. One can choose either iPhone 4G or the iPhone 3GS. The older iPhones, iPhone 2.5G and iPhone 3G run on older iPhone operating system. As far as Android phones are concerned, one can choose from hundreds of phones available in the market. While Apple comes out with a new iPhone every year, new Android phones are released every month.

Feature iOS 4 Android 2.2 3rd party multitasking Yes Yes Wi-fi tethering No Yes* Photo editing Yes 3rd party Live wallpapers No Yes MS exchange support Yes Yes SMS threads Yes Yes Adobe flash support No Yes Home screen folders Yes Yes System wide orientation lock Yes No * Carriers may charge

This was a comparison of the specifications of iOS and Android. The first iPhone came out in the 2007 and since then it has been the most desirable phone in the market. While the Apple Apps store is known for its applications and games, many people feel that Android’s open source platform is a something that iPhone lacks. By open source we mean that developers have a much better control over the phone. For example, if the flash player was missing on Android like it is on iPhone, developers could develop one without waiting for Google to build or permit developing one. The proponents of both these operating systems often claim that their operating system is better than the other. As far as we are concerned, we think in the end, it boils down to the consumers and their preferences. No two customers are alike, that is why some may appreciate Apple’s better control, while some like Android’s open source strategy. In this battle of iPhone vs Android, the consumer is the king. I hope this article on iPhone or Android is helpful to you.
