ViewSonic ViewPad 7e Gets Pricing & Release ...

Surprise bit of news slips out today about the ViewSonic ViewPad 7e, as this entry-level (that’s why it’s got that “e” in the name) tablet gets both pricing and a release date. And if you’re in the market for a cheap tablet, well, you might just have exactly what you were after right here.

You first heard about the ViewSonic ViewPad 7e by way of our own Robert Nelson way back in August, where it was expected to land during the fourth quarter of this year for a price around 169 euros, but now, we’ve got the full word on pricing and release dates for the United States and the rest of North America. You’ll be able to pick this one up for $199–this is a substantial drop from the originally expected price, at least in today’s conversion–and you’ll be able to pick it up starting in a matter of days, at the end of October.

Sounds pretty impressive to me, especially for $199. Sure, it’s not exactly the most powerful tablet on the market, but it looks like it will handle most of the basic tablet functions like casual gaming, video and ebook reading without incident, and if you need something more powerful than that, well, that’s why they made laptops, isn’t it?

So what do you guys think? anyone going to be looking to get hands on a ViewSonic ViewPad 7e? Or do you have a better idea in mind for your tablet purchase? Either way, we want to hear what you think about this new tablet, so head on down to the comments section below and tell us what’s on your mind!

ViewSonic Unveils The ViewPad 7e Android Tablet

It looks like ViewSonic has unveiled their latest ViewPad branded device. the model is the ViewPad 7e tablet and while ViewSonic has announced it, the tablet will be shown off a bit more during the upcoming IFA 2011 event.

First and foremost, IFA 2011 is going to kick off on September 1st in Berlin and should hopefully bring some interesting gadget related news. but that is a story for another day, in fact, it is a story for September 1st. Today we have some basic details on the ViewPad 7e tablet along with some information as to what else ViewSonic will be showing off during the event.

In terms of the ViewPad 7e tablet, this will be a 7 inch (hence the name) tablet with a 4:3 aspect ratio. the device is being touted as “compact” and “affordable” and being “perfect for e-reading, web browsing or enjoying multimedia anywhere that suits.”

That being said, the ViewPad 7e is expected to debut during the fourth quarter of 2011 and come priced at €169. So far there was not much given in terms of where the tablet will come available, however given the pricing — we think most will be able to take an educated guess as to one place.

Other specs of the tablet will include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and HDMI connectivity as well as the Amazon Kindle app being pre-loaded. in addition, those who make the purchase can also expect to find Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

And moving past the ViewPad 7e tablet and it looks like ViewSonic will also be showing off the dual-SIM capable V350 smartphone with Android, the ViewSonic VP Series displays and the recently announced ViewPad 10pro tablet which runs both Windows 7 and Android. it was also noted that the ViewPad 10pro will be available beginning September 5th in a Wi-Fi only model for €499.

Viewsonic 7-inch Tablet To Get Ice Cream Sandwich

Remember the Viewsonic Viewpad 7e that the company launched back in October 2011 in the US for £200? well, it seems that a new version of the tablet called the Viewpad E70 will not only get a price cut but will also come with Ice Cream Sandwich.

Viewsonic already has the ViewBook 730, the ViewPad 7 and the ViewPad 7e (as well as the ViewPad 10e, the ViewPad 10 and the ViewPad 10 Pro) on the market.

The device – which is set to appear in the US towards the end of May – will cost $169 when it goes on sale, making it one of the cheapest ARM-based ICS tablets on the market (other tablets like the Ainol Novo7 are MIPS-based).

Like the ViewPad 7e, it will also runs on a 1GHz processor (we assume it is a Cortex A8-based single core model, possibly one from a tier-2 player like Rockchip),

Other features include a 7-inch 800×480 capacitive touchscreen display, a microSD card slot, 4GB onboard storage, 512MB RAM, a front-facing camera, Amazon App store for Android and Kindle for Android.

We’re not sure whether it will come with Viewsonic’s VIewScene 3D user interface or its own Airsync technology. However, it is likely it will meet some tough competition either from discounted tablets like the Lenovo Ideapad A1 or from lesser-known newcomers.

ViewSonic ViewPad 7e available end of the month ...

By Tyler Lee on 10/24/2011 07:01 PST

With Amazon’s Kindle fire tablet being a tablet that is offered at a relatively affordable price, many other manufacturers have started creating similarly priced tablets, hoping to attract customers with its price rather than its hardware, and adding to that list is the ViewSonic ViewPad 7e which we had reported on back in August.

The good news for those who were looking forward to the device is that its availability has been officially announced by ViewSonic, and it is expected to start shipping to North American markets by the end of the month for a affordable price of $200, similar to that of the Amazon Kindle fire. As to whether its specs will match up or if it is to your liking is up to you to decide.

The ViewPad 7e will run on a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor with 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot for memory expansion, a 3MP rear-facing camera and a VGA front-facing camera, and will run on Android’s Gingerbread 2.3 with ViewSonic’s ViewScene 3D interface. not the most impressive of specs, but for those shopping on a budget, it looks like it should be able to get the job done.

ViewSonic ViewPad 7e 7-inch Android tablet landing ...

ViewSonic announced on Monday that its ViewPad 7e Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) tablet will be available in North America by the end of October for $199.99. the ViewPad 7e offers a 7-inch display with an 800 x 600-pixel resolution, a user interface with 3D “holographic visual effects,” a 1GHz processor, 4GB of storage, a micro-HDMI port, a 3-megapixel camera, a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video chats and a microSD card slot for adding up to 32GB of additional storage. On paper, its $200 price point certainly sounds like a bargain compared to more expensive tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. the ViewPad 7e runs the Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone operating system with somewhat outdated specs, however, which means most users will probably seek out the more powerful Amazon Kindle Fire, which also costs $200. the ViewPad 7e supports 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi networks and it remains unclear if ViewSonic will also launch a 3G version with U.S. carriers. ViewSonic ViewPad 7e Overview & User Reviews ...

Summary: I am usually a guy who is very in line with brand name electronic devices, and while not being a complete computer genius, I consider myself quite tech savvy. to sum it up for this product, we have a rare hit among the myriad choice of no name vendors who attempt to release a competent competitor in the field of inexpensive tablets. after seeing one in person, scouring all the tech specs I can discover, and perusing the most literate of user reviews, this tablet stood out with understated gusto. For those who desire a powerhouse mega-tablet to compute them into the next generation, you will really benefit from shelling out the additional funds for a tablet from the top 5 personal electronics vendors. otherwise, if you are looking to break into the tablet frontier, and/or spread those precious pennies as far as they will go, the ViewSonic ViewPad 7e will not only get the job done, but go beyond most naysayer’s pessimism, and allow you to get up to date in the tech world without having to hastily upgrade.

Viewsonic launches Amazon Fire-rival Viewpad 7e ...

Viewsonic announced a budget 7-inch Android tablet called the ViewPad 7e with an Amazon Kindle Fire-rivaling US$200 price tag.

The 7-inch device will ship with Android 2.3 Gingerbread rather than Amazon’s forked locked-down version of Android in the Kindle fire. Viewsonic are even cheekily pre installing Amazon Services for Android and Amazon Kindle applications.

The Viewsonic 7e doesn’t quite have the same specifications though, namely an 800 x 600 resolution screen rather than the Kindle Fire’s 1024 x 600 and half as much storage, 4GB instead of the Fire’s 8GB.

That said the Viewsonic tablet has both front and rear facing cameras and an SD card slot, something sorely missing from the Kindle fire.

If using the fire predominantly as an Amazon ebook reader is the goal then the Amazon device is probably the better bet, being as is it weighs a little less and has a higher resolution IPS-based display.

However $200 for a pretty competent 7-inch ‘proper’ Android tablet is sure to win no small amount of fans.

Sadly Viewsonic announced availability in the US this month, and in Latin America in November but had nothing to say about Europe or elsewhere. The company has a product page for the Viewsonic Viewpad 7e here.

Viewsonic Viewpad 7e is a sub-$250 Android tablet ...

oh, this is quite interesting, isn't it? Viewsonic has just unveiled yet another 7-inch tablet. This time around, it's the Viewpad 7e, and it's got something that not many tablets can boast: a sub-$250 price tag.

The display is at the ratio of 4:3, making it very similar to the iPad. That in itself should make the 7e more appealing to the less tech-savvy crowd. Of course, so will the fact that it should be a speedy little tablet, thanks to its running of Android 2.3.

As far as connectivity goes, you'll get an HDMI port and Bluetooth, as well as some sort of WiFi. It's also got a front-facing camera, which will be useful if you wish to video chat with the little guy.

Hands on with ViewSonic ViewPad 7e, 7x, and 10pro ...

Hands-on impressions of ViewSonic’s upcoming tablet lineup, from an attempt at mimicking the Kindle to a Windows 7 tablet that runs Android Gingerbread.

Anybody who’s anybody has a tablet coming out this year. ViewSonic has three. Last night, at the Holiday Spectacular show in new York City, we spent a bit of time with ViewSonic’s lineup and walked away both impressed and bewildered. ViewSonic has tablets with every OS available: the ViewPad 7e runs Android Gingerbread, the ViewPad 7x runs Android Honeycomb, and the ViewPad 10pro runs Windows 7 and has an Android Gingerbread emulator. Oddly, the only tablet that really stuck with us was the ViewPad 7x, the only tablet of the bunch to run an OS built for tablets.

Here’s a quick run down of the group:

ViewPad 7e: this is ViewSonic’s attempt at capturing the spirit of the Kindle. Though it’s a 7-inch Android tablet, it looks a lot like what I’d imagine the upcoming Amazon tablet might. it runs a heavily modified version of Android Gingerbread, is white (and a bit thick), and has four highly visible navigation buttons at the bottom. If it didn’t look enough like a Kindle, well, the Amazon Kindle and Amazon Appstore integration may give you a hint where ViewSonic is headed with this one. the interface was a 3D-ish carousel, like a messier version of HTC’s Sense 3.0. Overall, I didn’t spend much time with the device, but it didn’t jump out as particularly usable or intuitive at first. It’s clear that ViewSonic is going for a particular market with this one, but I’m not sure the market will bite, especially with an actual Amazon Kindle tablet on the way. it will hit shelves at the end of October for $200.

ViewPad 7x: this tablet looks a lot like Acer’s recent Iconia Tab A100 7-inch tablet. it runs what appears to be an unmodified version of Android Honeycomb, presumably version 3.2. this guy runs on a 1GHz dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, as seems to be the norm with Honeycomb tablets, and has full access to the Android Market. the 7x will retail for $380, which is right in the price range of most 7-inch tablets.

ViewPad 10pro: Oddly, though the ViewPad 10pro is a $600 to $700 tablet, it was our least favorite of the bunch. we weren’t happy with the responsiveness of Windows 7. the OS just isn’t built for touch, at all, and ViewSonic’s touchscreen doesn’t seem to do it any favors. we look forward to a dual-booting operating system, but so far Windows 8 seems to be more attractive than Windows 7 running Android.
