10 Video FAQs about ASUS Eee Pad Transformer ...

ASUSTeK Computer goes to extraordinary measures to appeal to widest possible audience of their potential customers. Original ASUS Eee Pad Transformer was and still is one of the most popular 10-inch Android slates, even if the Transformer Prime clearly takes the role of ASUS flagship tablet. This time, ASUSTeK has released a group of FAQ videos that can influence customers decisions in favor of its $360 – $399 device.

This ‘most FAQ’ mini-series consists of 10 episodes, so here we go:

1. the most FAQ about the Eee Pad Transformer #1: how do I use Google Maps on the Eee Pad?

Using Googgle Maps on Eee Pad Transformer is really fun. Note that the demonstration makes rounds about Pegatron plant.

2. the most FAQ about the Eee Pad Transformer #2: can I download applications for Eee Pad?

Can I download applications for Eee Pad? I would certainly try, if I had this tablet. Jokes aside, it’s easy, and Android applications specially designed for tablets are out there, fully accessible in the Android Market.

3. the most FAQ about the Eee Pad Transformer #3: What’s makes Transformer dock different from other docks?

This one is the hit of the season. Eee Pad Transformer wouldn’t be a “transformer” if there wasn’t such a useful accessory as its docking station combined with a good keyboard. It goes for $140 on top of Transformer price, but a refurbished variant can save you $20.

4. the most FAQ about the Eee Pad Transformer #4: What does Transformer have in terms of expandability?

When in the docking keyboard, Eee Pad Transformer has very good expansion options in terms of what and how many external storages may be used and coexist. Connecting an external USB HD drive is a particularly compelling feature.

5. the most FAQ about the Eee Pad Transformer #5: how large is Transformer? is the screen easy to break?

It’s a scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla glass, it should be really tough. What do you think?

6. the most FAQ about the Eee Pad Transformer #6: can I play games on my Eee Pad Transformer?

That’s an easy one. of course, you can! I’m surprised you’ve been waiting till 6th episode, to ask.

7. the most FAQ about the Eee Pad Transformer #7: What’s the difference between Transformer and iPad?

A legit question. in this episode, iPad is thoroughly beaten by not having Adobe Flash on board.

8. the most FAQ about the Eee Pad Transformer #8: how is the camera in terms of photo quality?

Both cameras are good, hardware-wise. They might need a plethora of face-morphing effects from Ice Cream Sandwich though, but ICS will probably meet original Transformer in the next season, I think.

9. the most FAQ about the Eee Pad Transformer #9: What is MyNet? What does MyNet do?

I think you’ve got it without my further explanations: MyNet is not your net, if you don’t own a Transformer yet.

10. the most FAQ about the Eee Pad Transformer#10: how else can I access a home computer via a Eee Pad?

This one is serious: MyCloud. hopefully it will work without a hitch when this Transformer gets the ICS upgrade.

Now they are planning a second generation of the device, and according to Digitimes this will happen this year itself. Probably by October ASUS will launch their Eee Pad Transformer 2.

The second generation Eee Pad Transformer is expected to be coming with NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor power and boosted up with “impressive” specification.

Both Wintek and HannStar Display are preparing touch screen panels for the device. The former is planning to begin small-volume shipments in the middle of the third quarter and shipments in large volumes at the end of the quarter.

Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime image revealed

All that we have come to know of uptil now is that the sequel to the original Transformer has been named Transformer Prime (and not Transformer 2) and that it will make its debut on November 9th. We have come across a few other tit bits as well pertaining to the new Transformer including the fact that it also stands a chance of becoming the first tablet to run Android Ice Cream Sandwich. However, what was missing so far were clear shots of the upcoming tablet as the ones doing the rounds were not satisfying enough. the dearth seems to have been taken care of with the emergence of a few pic depicting the Transformer Prime in a better light.

The Transformer Prime was first confirmed by Asus chairman Jonney Shih who had also shown off the product at the recently held AsiaD conference. the Chairman however had not allowed for a closer look at the device and nor did the company allow pictures of the device to remain for long on a Chinese forum that had hosted the same for a while. Notebook Italia though, had managed to grab some of the pictures before they were deleted from the forum.

So what does the new images reveal of the Transformer Prime?

Well, the second iteration of Transformer which happened to be the most popular among Android tablets continues with the same form factor complete with a detachable keypad dock. the keyboard boasts of multifaceted functions namely a touchpad and expansion ports. another useful aspect of the keyboard is that it comes with its own power source, which in combination with the tablet’s battery will serve for twice the number of hours. also, the layout of the optional keyboard is such that the buttons are placed below the touchpad area itself.

As for its looks, the Transformer Prime does look stunning with its concentric brushed aluminium finish. the company logo is also placed at the center of the tablet’s back so that the overall looks mimics the Asus Zenbook and its siblings.

However, while detailed specifications of the Transformer Prime has been kept under wraps as of now, what has come to the fore is that the rear camera is now accompanied with a LED flash. further, the Transformer Prime has already been confirmed to feature NVIDIA Kal-El quad-core processor at its heart while the overall thickness will be no more than 0.33 inches. We will have to wait for a couple of weeks for the final thing to emerge.

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer might be the first tablet ...

First off, this isn’t really exactly news because isn’t this what we all expect when we buy Android? That our devices at some point will get updated to the latest and greatest OS as they become available? At least most right? while this story is completely obvious I’m sure many will be extremely happy to hear that the ASUS Transformer will indeed be updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. What’s even better is it might also be the first tablet to receive the update, although the Xoom might have something to say about that.

New details have emerged that confirm the highly popular Transformer tablet will be one of, if not the first tablet with 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The Transformer is one of the best selling Honeycomb tablets to date so I’m sure there are plenty of users giddy with excitement right about now. although chances are the first tablet with ICS might actually be the Transformer 2 we saw reports on earlier this week.

In case you missed it, ASUS teased us with a video this morning regarding the new Transformer 2 and the image above came right from the video. They look to be prepping the next tablet in their series and it very well could be the first Ice Cream Sandwich tablet, and the original would receive an OTA update following that launch. with that teaser video today, we can expect to see some details at the All things D event going on tonight that ASUS will be attending so stay tuned. I’m hoping for some juicy details and have a feeling they are coming tonight.

Transformer 2 gets a live demo, announcement ...

Speaking at the AsiaD conference earlier today, Asus’ chairman Jonney Shih laid out the company’s plans for ultrabooks and tablets for the next few months. after showing off the oh-so shiny Zenbook UX31, Shih pulled out yet another goody from his briefcase: the elusive EEE Pad Transformer 2. Shih noted that the tablet market, and in particular Android, will be a big part of the company’s mobile strategy for the coming year.

We’ve known for some time that the Transformer 2 is coming, and Asus seems delighted to tease consumers with the successor to one of the most well-received Android Honeycomb tablets. Earlier today we saw a promotional video showing of “the next transformation“. Shih confirmed that the Transformer 2 will be using a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, and that the device is an impressively thin 8.3mm. Asus will officially announce the tablet on November 9th. unfortunately there’s no confirmation on whether or not it’s running Ice Cream Sandwich, but Shih teased that we might see Asus tablets using the latest version of Android before the end of the year.

Shih also spoke on Asus’ PadPhone concept device, a smartphone with a dockable tablet that we’ve heard far too little on since it was shown off in March. the smartphone/tablet hybrid device is currently being tested by carriers (he didn’t say which) and should be ready for a wide release early next year. And yes, the PadPhone will run Ice Cream Sandwich, which is designed to handle phone and tablet duties with equal vigor.

Eee Pad Transformer 2 pre-order listing surfaces ...

It’s not uncommon at all for products to turn up on pre-order early in the tech world. Often we see them up before the products are officially announced and before the pricing is known. I mention all that so you take this with a grain of salt. A pre-order page has turned up for the Asus Eee Pad 2. we have written about that tablet before went the CEO said the release was imminent.

The tablet has turned up carrying the part number TF201-1I020A. the part number for the original Eee Transformer was TF101 so this lines up. there is no photo attached to the pre-order listing. there are a few specs listed on the pre-order page.

The page says that the tablet has 32GB of storage, 1GB of RAM, a 10.1-inch screen, and Android 3.0. the processor is a Tegra 3 unit, which is impressive. the price listed works out to $841 when converted, which seems expensive. the tablet is expected to ship November 7.

Asus Eee Pad Transformer 2 Possible in Bid for ...

A supposed collection of “multiple” sources have confirmed that the very first NVIDIA Kal-El quad-core processor toting tablet will be a next-generation Asus device, very possibly called the Asus Eee Pad Transformer 2. the Kal-El chipset is an object of some discussion of late on when the quad-core chipset would be released, be it Q3 of 2011, Q4, or beyond. what we’re to understand today is that the SoC will be at least a month out from now and that it’ll be coming into play on the Asus Transformer 2.

The original Asus Transformer is held in high esteem in the developer community as being one of the best all-round dual-core Android tablets on the market at the moment, being thing, powerful, and unique in shape. It’ll be getting a whole heck of a lot more popular in a second-gen device should it be the first tablet off the line with NVIDIA’s most powerful processor yet. NVIDIA CEO Jen Hsun Huang noted in NVIDIA’s last big conference call that the SoC would indeed consume less power than the current dual-core processor being shipped, the NVIDIA Tegra 2, and that this is the case “across the board in just about any work scenario.”

Note further that we’ve previously gotten word that the Transformer 2 would be released in October 2011. all of this lining up for you nicely?

We’ve got a full review of the original Asus Eee Pad Transformer for you to take a look at and we’re also anxiously awaiting our first review-type look at the Asus Eee Pad Slider, a device which also features a dual-core Tegra 2 processor. Smaller processor fabrication at 40nm for these new Kal-El SoCs should lower heat output at the same time it increases performance. all this and more as it’s very likely that the first quad-core tablet will also be running Android Ice Cream Sandwich for the ultimate tasty treat combo.
