New Baidu Cloud phone unveiled: Changhong H5018 ...

That new Baidu Cloud phone we told you about last week? You’re looking right at it! Following the flagship Dell Streak Pro D43 (which was branded with what was then known as Baidu Yi aka version 1.0 of the platform), this Foxconn-built Changhong H5018 is the second smartphone to have its Android Gingerbread system enhanced by Baidu, meaning it’ll come with 300GB of cloud storage space (instead of the old 100GB), voice search, voice control and a set of other online services offered by the Chinese search giant.

as for the hardware itself, we’re looking at a 10.3mm-thick matte chassis housing a 650MHz MTK6573 processor, a 3.5-inch 480 x 320 display, a three-megapixel camera and a non-removable 1,400mAh battery, all of which would explain that highly affordable CN¥899 (US$140) off-contract price tag. that said, you’ll still find a dual-SIM (WCDMA plus GSM) tray and a microSD slot hidden beneath the bottom cover. not sure where ZTE is on this one, but for now, you can head over to Sina Tech for its hands-on report and photos.

Lenovo Announces Three New Tablets: LePad S2005 ...

Lenovo has just announced a trio of new tablets, that includes a Galaxy Note rival with a 5 inch screen, known as the LePad/IdeaTab S2005 tablet/phone hybrid. There’s also a 7 incher unit that goes as the LePad S2007 and a 10 incher called S2010. they will be launched in December, according to Engadget Chinese.

The Lenovo LePad S2007 and S2010 will be available with a 1.5GHz Qualcomm dual core processor, 1 GB of RAM and their displays will support a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. In the meantime, we remind you that Lenovo is also prepping a quad core Tegra 3 tablet, the IdeaTab K2, that was leaked weeks ago. the above-mentioned slates get an 8 megapixel camera at the back and a 1.3MP front cam, plus 3G support and the promise that they will work on China Unicom’s WCDMA and China Telecom’s EV-DO network.

The Lenovo LePad S2007 gets a 3,780 mAh battery, that provides 8 hours of WiFi use and the entire device measures a mere 9.7mm in thickness, while weighing in at 360 grams. the S2010 is obviously bigger, at 9.9mm in waistline and it also packs a 7,670 mAh battery, that provides 11 hours of use. the LePad S2005 is the real star here, since it adopts an original form factor that’s not used very often these days: a 5 inch diagonal and the functions of a hybrid between phone and tablet.

It runs Android 2.3.5, relies on a dual core 1.2GHz Qualcomm CPU, plus 1GB of RAM and has a 5 inch 800 x 480 pixel display. a 5MP cam rounds up the specs list of this Galaxy Note and Dell Streak rival. the size is 9.95mm in thickness and the device weighs 198 grams. which one of these interests you the most?

Lenovo Reveals Plans for 3 Tablets, Smartphone, ...

Lenovo plans to launch a cloud-based service for sharing content, an internet-connected Smart TV, three IdeaPad S2 tablets and and an IdeaPhone S2 smartphone.

Computerworld reports that Lenovo revealed three new tablets and a new smartphone during a company-sponsored event. The devices will initially launch in China under the “Le” branding (LePad, LePhone) and will eventually be released internationally using the “Idea” branding (IdeaPad, IdeaPhone). The company also revealed plans to launch a Smart TV product in the first quarter of next year.

According to the company, the new LePad/IdeaPad S2 tablet will arrive in 5, 7 and 10-inch models. The latter two will sport Google’s Android 3.2 operating system backed by a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor. both will also feature a user interface designed to resemble a checkerboard (sounds a bit like Metro) which will consist of square icon tiles that connect to applications and services. given that these will launch in China first, the 7- and 10-inch tablets will support Unicom’s WCDMA and Telecom’s EVDO networks.

The 10-inch model actually surfaced last week. Reports claimed that the tablet will be powered by a 1.6 GHz Tegra 3 SoC and feature 2 GB of 1,600 MHz DDR3 RAM, a standard USB host socket covered by a pop-out flap, a back-facing camera of unknown resolution, and a “special fusion-skin body.” a fingerprint scanner will also be mounted on the back that will double as an optical joystick.

As for the 5-inch model, Lenovo said that users will be able to make telephone calls directly from the device. it will support Unicom’s HSDPA data network, and run Android 2.3 “Gingerbread” on a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor. this is likely the same 5-inch tablet that appeared last week featuring a micro-USB port, HDMI output and a front-facing camera.

Despite announcing the upcoming Smart TV, Lenovo didn’t provide any additional details other than it would be an Internet-connected product and named “IdeaTV” for the international market. The company also refrained from offering details on its second-generation LePhone/IdeaPhone S2 other than it can take panoramic, 270-degree photos.

Also in the works is a new cloud-computing strategy for automatically synchronizing content — whether its personal information, social networking info, documents or multimedia — between multiple devices. Users will also reportedly receive 200 GB of space for virtual storage.

“The PC, communications and TV industries are currently undergoing a ‘smart’ transformation,” said Liu Jun, president of Lenovo’s mobile-Internet and digital-home-business division, in a statement. “In the future, users will have many smart devices and will desire an integrated experience of hardware, software and cloud services.”

We expect to see more info about the new products during CES 2012 in January.
